چکیده

When data consist of patients with a specific risk to develop an health event and we are interested in monitoring the incidence rate of this event, the standard Bernoulli CUSUM fails and a risk-adjustment needs. The risk-adjusted CUSUM chart proposed by Steiner et al. (2000) shows some limitations. To overcome these limits a simple risk-adjusted CUSUM is proposed and it may be considered a general, simple and efficient solution. Simulated and actual data sets illustrate the performance and the usefulness of the proposed procedure. An application to mortality data is also shown.

A risk adjusted self-starting Bernoulli CUSUM control chart with dynamic probability control limits

Usually, in monitoring schemes the nominal value of the process parameter is assumed known. However, this assumption is violated owing to costly sampling and lack of data particularly in healthcare systems. On the other hand, applying a fixed control limit for the risk-adjusted Bernoulli chart causes to a variable in-control average run length performance for patient populations with dissimilar...

A two-sided Bernoulli-based CUSUM control chart with autocorrelated observations

Usually, in monitoring a proportion p < /em>, the binary observations are considered independent; however, in many real cases, there is a continuous stream of autocorrelated binary observations in which a two-state Markov chain model is applied with first-order dependence. On the other hand, the Bernoulli CUSUM control chart which is not robust to autocorrelation can be applied two-sided co...

A Self-starting Control Chart for Simultaneous Monitoring of Mean and Variance of Simple Linear Profiles

In many processes in real practice at the start-up stages the process parameters are not known a priori and there are no initial samples or data for executing Phase I monitoring and estimating the process parameters. In addition, the practitioners are interested in using one control chart instead of two or more for monitoring location and variability of processes. In this paper, we consider a s...

Monitoring binary outcomes using risk-adjusted charts: a comparative study.

Monitoring binary outcomes when evaluating health care performance has recently become common. Classical statistical methodologies such as cumulative sum (CUSUM) charts have been refined and used for this purpose. For instance, the risk-adjusted CUSUM chart (RA-CUSUM) for monitoring binary outcomes was proposed for monitoring 30-day mortality following cardiac surgery. The RA-CUSUM inherits opt...

The Effect of Estimation Error on Risk-adjusted Bernoulli GEWMA Control Chart in Multistage Healthcare Processes

Background and objectives: Risk-adjusted Bernoulli control chart is one of the main tools for monitoring multistage healthcare processes to achieve higher performance and effectiveness in healthcare settings. Using parameter estimates can lead to significantly deteriorate chart performance. However, so far, the effect of estimation error on this chart in which healthcare ...
